Denise and Ahmed were both principal
dancers with the Firqa Kawmiyya (National
Folkloric Troupe of Egypt) from 1960 to 1974. They
trained the second generation of Kawmeya dancers
and won awards and acclaim in Egypt for their
performances and choreographies. Many of the
instructors who today are considered masters of
Egyptian dance began as students of Denise and
Ahmed.
As soon as they immigrated to Canada, Denise and
Ahmed immediately began passing on their knowledge
and experience of dance and choreography by
teaching classes and seminars across the country.
After many years of teaching in various locations,
they opened their own studio, Dance Oasis, in
2003; the Oasis Studio is a culmination of a
lifetime of dedication to Egyptian dance.
In addition to regular classes with
internationally renowned master instructor Denise Enan , and private
coaching sessions with award-winning choreographer
Ahmed
Enan , the Dance Oasis features the
Ottawa-Gatineau region's very
best instructors of Oriental dance.
